Film Review Bits - 2000s' Comedy

Scary Movie

Released 2000

Over twenty-years ago The Waynes Brothers gave us a gleefully low-brow, Zucker Brothers style, parody of a slew of 90s' era horror films. It's a frequently funny flurry of pop-culture, raunch, shock-value, any yes- even the occasional cleverness.

Legally Blonde

Released 2001

A smart, energetic, and hilarious comedy with the pervading message of not judging someone by their looks (or hair), featuring a breakout performance from the talented Reese Witherspoon.

Bridget Jones's Diary

Released 2001

Renee Zellweger shines in this witty, feminist sex comedy circa 2001 that is still every bit as topical now.

Charlie Bartlett

Released 2007

'Charlie Bartlett' is smarter that your average teen movie with strong performances from the late Anton Yelchin as well as Robert Downey Jr. It is an emotional, dark humored, coming-of-age story that skillfully addresses mental health issues as well as critiques the USA's reliance on drugs to solve complex problems.
