Film Review Bits - 2010s' Sci-fi

Inception

Released 2010

Christopher Nolan, one of the greatest living directors to date, brought us the sci-fi masterpiece ‘Inception’. The brilliant ensemble cast that includes Ellen Page, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, and Joesph Gordon-Levitt weave their way through a world where one can infiltrate dreams. This is a top rate blockbuster that goes beyond just popcorn entertainment. ‘Inception’ delivers to the audience an expert philosophical and emotional one two punch. The SAG award winning script never underestimates its audience and the thunderous score from Han Zimmer elevates this film even higher into the stratosphere of epic cinematic experiences

Snow Piercer

Released 2013

Before Bong Joon Ho generated waves with his Best Picture winning masterpiece 'Parasite', he made a cult sci-fi film of equal gravitas. Leading the cast with his sobering performance is Chris Evans (Captain America himself). The film revolves around a dystopian future where what is left of humanity is forced to live on a train. It is politically topical as it parallels the current class warfare and critiques the corrupt aspects of capitalism.

Ex Machina

Released 2015

Ex Machina is one of the best films of the 2010s. Velicia Valkander gives an astounding performance in this near perfect sci-fi film. The best special effects accompany a flawless production design and a script so polished you might just see society reflecting off of it.
