Argh ye landlubbers! This week is all about pirates! Register ahead of time or ye will have to walk the plank! (just kidding). We will read a few stories, play some games and sing a song or two. Call the front desk to sign up: (414) 357-0106
K.I.D.S (Kids Investigating Diverse Stories), 1-2pm
This program is for kids aged 7-11. We will start off by sharing a chapter of a book and then move on to a craft or other activity. This week we will be making no-sew fleece octopus!
July 27
Scrabble Club, 12pm
One Wednesday a month come join us to play Scrabble! We’ll provide the Scrabble board. You provide the words!
July 28
Harry Potter Danger Words, 1pm
This game is like a mix of charades and headbandz. We give you a word, and you have to make your partner guess the word you have. Careful though! There are danger words. Say them and you lose!
July 29
Streaming Bookclub, 12pm
You know those Netflix and Prime and Hulu and whatever shows that keep popping up as “Based on” this series or that? Now is your time to actually read what inspired these series. Grab your channel changer and flip to a good book. For July we are reading The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. So grab your bag lunch and join us for some fun, gossipy book discussions on the TV series. We might even watch part of an episode!
Ongoing Programs
Find our gnome!
Our gnome keeps wandering around and we could use your help finding him! If you are going on vacation or having a stay-cation, you can grab your own paper gnome to color and take with you. Snap a photo of you and your gnome and email it to us at bdpl.ref@mcfls.org and we will display your photo and give you a prize!
Reading Rocks
Keep an eye out this summer for decorated rocks with a label that says Brown Deer Public Library. If you return a rock to the library (or re-hide it and take a picture to show us), we will give you a prize!
Attraction Passes
Looking for something to do with the kids? Pick up one of our fabulous attraction passes. We have passes for the zoo, the domes, Schlitz Audubon Center, Discovery World, the Milwaukee Art Museum and Betty Brinn. Passes cannot be put on hold but if you give us a call we will be happy to let you know what is available. Checkout times and benefits vary.
