What's Happening at Brown Deer Public Library: November 28-December 4th

The library is closed for the holiday from November 25-November 28th. We will resume regular hours on Monday, November 29th.

November 29th

Who says summer is the only time for library reading programs? Join us on Beanstack, where we’ll have reading goals, Winter-based activities, and fun Winter-related crafts! The more you participate, the more tickets you’ll get for our grand prize raffles! You can register for this event through our Beanstack app: https://browndeerwi.beanstack.com/reader365

Preschool Storytime--10:30am, Mondays.

Join us for stories and songs! Every week we'll be sharing some fun books, singing songs, and doing fingerplays. There will also be a fun craft to take home. All participants over the age of 2 and the librarian running story-time must be masked, out of respect for those who are not yet vaccinated. Space is limited due to social distancing and registration is required. You can register for each week you wish to attend, beginning the week before, by calling our Reference desk at 414-357-0106.

Not able to be here in person? We will be uploading the story-time to our Facebook page each Tuesday at 10am so you can still join in the fun!

November 30th

Art Cart: This weeks craft is a nature journal and coloring sheet. Even in the winter you can still find fun things to document in a nature journal.

December 1st

Finger-Knit Garland

December is here! Start the last month of the year off right by learning to finger-knit a garland. Finger knitting is a simple and fun project that can take minutes or last hours. Take some yarn, wrap it around your fingers and see the tube of fabric grow. In this program, you will be taught the basics of finger knitting and an application or two and have the ability to start creating a fun garland for your tree. This event will be held in person from 5-5:30 or you can pick up a kit to take home.

December 3rd

Relax and Refresh Grab and Go Kits: Stop in the library each month to pick up a kit to help you take a break from daily stresses. Kits are intended to be simple, mindful, and include items such as puzzles, coloring sheets, easy crafts, and small treats.
