What's happening at the Brown Deer Public Library September 26th-October 2nd

Here are the upcoming events and programs for the last week of September!

September 27th

Banned Books Week!

To celebrate banned books week we will be giving out a goody bag filled with banned books related activities. These activities will include cross words, puzzles, and other fun activities. Just stop by the library to pick up your bag!

Preschool Story-time is back! Join us for stories and songs! Every Monday we'll be sharing some fun books, singing songs, and doing fingerplays. There will also be a fun craft to take home. All participants over the age of 2 and the librarian running story-time must be masked, out of respect for those who are not yet vaccinated. Space is limited due to social distancing and registration is required. You can register for each week you wish to attend, beginning the week before, by calling our Reference desk at 414-357-0106.

Not able to be here in person? We will be uploading the story-time to our Facebook page each Tuesday at 10am so you can still join in the fun!

September 28th Art Cart:

Check out this week's art cart bag! The possibilities are endless with this craft! These cute little dolls can be customized HOWEVER your heart desires! You can paint them, wrap them in string, hand sew (or glue) little clothes for them, add wings, scarves, hair, or even arms! You could make a mini me doll, a celebrity lookalike, a fairy, pirate, mermaid, police officer, a cute fashion doll, or even Bob Ross!

September 30th

Plan Your Novel Discussion If you’ve ever had the thought about writing a novel but don’t know where to start, this is the class for you. We’ll go briefly over the different elements you will need to plot your story, things to consider with creating believable characters, and look at point of view. We’ll also discuss the participation in National Novel Writing Month (November), and what it takes to make it through.

October 1st

Relax and Refresh Kits

Stop in the library to pick up a kit to help you take a break from daily stresses. Kits are intended to be simple, mindful, and include items such as puzzles, coloring sheets, easy crafts, and small treats.
