What's Happening at the Library.

Unfortunately we had to make some changes to the programming schedule but we still have lots of fun and exciting programs coming up! Here is a peek at what is happening next week at at the Brown Deer Public Library! We hope to see you soon!

September 14:

Origami Flowers (Grab and Go Kit)

Now is your chance to learn the art of origami. It’s a perfect activity if you’re looking for something to keep your hands busy and your mind active. Each month will have a different focus and no prior knowledge is necessary. Each kit will contain the paper you need as well as a few different sets of instructions to make something fun!

Art Cart

Every Tuesday of the month

Available for all ages, but especially children

Stop in the library and pick up an Art Cart bag (while supplies last). Inside will be a variety of art supplies and at least one project idea. Bring the bag home and make something awesome!

September 15:

Lego Club

Available every first and third Wednesday of the month

It’s Lego Club, with a twist. Every first and third Tuesday of the month, we’ll have a new Lego challenge for you to try to building. Come to the library and check out a Lego kit – inside will be a challenge and the Legos you’ll need to build it. Take a picture once you’ve completed the challenge, and earn a stamp on your Lego Club punch card. For every two stamps you get, you’ll receive a small prize!

Virtual (and in person) Book Clubs @ Your Library

Books are better when discussed. And for many of our members, in person is the way to go. With the tide turning on the pandemic, we are finally able to return to in-person and we’re going for it. To top it off, instead of one we now have three book clubs to choose from—or come to all three! Our original group covers titles both fiction and non- from the last couple of years and has a great group of people take the discussion to the next level. Then we have the “Forgotten” Book Club where we discuss titles from the four “forgotten” styles: short stories, essays, novellas and poetry. We round everything out with our Genre Book Club where each month is selected from one of four distinct fictional genres: crime/mystery/thriller, fantasy, sci-fi, and horror. Each group has its own terrific titles to discover. Questions are available one month in advance from checkout or on our staff blog by the date of the discussion.

Original Book Club-3rd Wednesday of the Month @ 5:30PM
