What's Happening at Brown Deer Public Library, October 31st-November 6th.

It's a new month with new programs and kits! Check out what is happening at the library next week. We hope to see you soon!

November 1st:

Preschool Storytime--10:30am, Mondays.

Join us for stories and songs! Every week we'll be sharing some fun books, singing songs, and doing fingerplays. There will also be a fun craft to take home. All participants over the age of 2 and the librarian running story-time must be masked, out of respect for those who are not yet vaccinated. Space is limited due to social distancing and registration is required. You can register for each week you wish to attend, beginning the week before, by calling our Reference desk at 414-357-0106.

Not able to be here in person? We will be uploading the story-time to our Facebook page each Tuesday at 10am so you can still join in the fun!

Writing Workshop Kit (Grab and Go)

Unfortunately we will not be able to meet up like we were originally hoping, but we will still make the writing workshop work! We will be providing a bag with a notebook, a pen, and writing prompts to help get you started for NaNoWriMo. Supplies will be limited, so make sure to come in early.

Cookbook Club

It's a new month and a new spice and recipe! November's recipe features oregano and parsnips. They look like white carrots and taste like a cross between a potato and a citrus fruit, parsnips are starting to get a serious following which makes this month’s recipe for Perfectly Roasted Parsnips something of a fan favorite.

Thanksgiving Food Drive from November 1st - 27th

The Brown Deer Public Library will be partnering with a local food bank and collecting non-perishable food items to provide Thanksgiving meals and other food- and hygiene-based essentials for local families.

November 2

Art Cart

This weeks art cart bag has supplies to make an adorable snail out of an old CD and other supplies.

November 3

Lego Club

It’s Lego Club, with a twist. Every first and third Tuesday of the month, we’ll have a new Lego challenge for you to try to building. Come to the library and check out a Lego kit – inside will be a challenge and the Legos you’ll need to build it. Take a picture once you’ve completed the challenge, and earn a stamp on your Lego Club punch card. For every two stamps you get, you’ll receive a small prize!

November 5

Relax and Refresh Kits

Stop in the library each month to pick up a kit to help you take a break from daily stresses. Kits are intended to be simple, mindful, and include items such as puzzles, coloring sheets, easy crafts, and small treats.

Coming soon:
