In case you lost your directions or missed out on a kit, we have you covered. In this series, we will be showcasing past projects, in particular those that were originally released as Surprise Craftertunity kits at the library. So get ready to grab some spare materials and start crafting!
The following pattern is for the class that will be held today at 1:30PM via Zoom. A teacher will be available to assist you and/or to create virtually alongside you and materials are available for checkout through the Drive Through or at the circulation desk. We look forward to seeing you there.
Easy Foldover Slippers
This super simple pattern only requires you to know one thing: Knit stitch. Well, that and how to cast on and off. I'm serious. The entire thing is done in garter stitch, which is just a fancy way of saying both directions are the same stitch.
To make it even easier, the creator of this pattern has created them in 2 sizes: women's S/M and M/L. Happy knitting!
Materials:
Super Bulky Yarn (Preferably Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick, but other brands work too)
US 10 1/2 single point needles
Instructions:
[Make 2]
Cast on 46 (50 for M/L) stitches.
Work in Garter Stitch for 12 rows.
Bind off 18 (20) stitches at the beginning of the next row. Finish row
Bind off 18 (20) stitches at the beginning of the next row - this leaves you with 10 stitches in the middle. Garter Stitch remaining stitches for 8 3/4 (9 1/4) inches.
Bind off.
At this point, your finished piece should look like the letter "T". The upper part will become the back and side of the bootie/slipper. The thinner, bottom part will be the footbed.
Assembling Slippers
Take one side of the upper part of the "T" and place it on top of the footbed
Take the other side of the "T" and place it on top of the 2 layers
Using a yarn needle, sew the bootie together at the toe. Sew through all 3 layers
Sew the seam at each side. Turn inside out when finished
Repeat these steps with the other slipper.
